Rickhouse Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 13, 2026

Rickhouse ("the app," "we," "us") is a bourbon community platform operated by Bryan Combest. This policy covers both the Rickhouse mobile app and our website, getrickhouse.app. Questions or requests: [email protected].

Who Rickhouse Is For

Rickhouse is a community for adults of legal drinking age. You must be 21 or older to create an account. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 21, and we do not sell alcohol or facilitate alcohol transactions of any kind.

What We Collect

Account information. When you sign up we collect your email address, password (stored in hashed form by our authentication provider, never readable by us), first and last name, and username. You may optionally provide a zip code (used to suggest nearby groups) and a profile photo.

Content you create. Your bottle collection entries, bottle and memory photos, tasting notes, wishlist, posts, comments, event RSVPs, and messages you send in direct messages and group chats. Your privacy settings control who can see your profile and activity.

Bottle label photos. If you use our scan feature, photos you take of bottle labels are processed by an AI service to read the label text and fill in bottle details for you. These photos are used for that purpose and to maintain your collection entry.

Push notification tokens. If you enable notifications, we store a device token so we can send them. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.

Technical basics. Like most apps and websites, our infrastructure providers log standard technical information (such as IP address and device type) needed to operate and secure the service.

Usage and diagnostics. To understand how the app is used and keep it stable, we collect analytics about your interactions (such as which features you use) and automatic crash and error reports when something goes wrong. This helps us fix bugs and improve Rickhouse.

How We Use It

We use your information to run Rickhouse: maintaining your cellar, connecting you with friends and groups, sending notifications you have enabled, and improving the app. Two uses worth calling out plainly:

AI features. Bottle label photos and certain text you submit are processed by AI to provide features like scan-to-fill and description assistance.

Community safety. Content posted in shared community spaces is subject to automated review to detect harassment, hate speech, threats, and other conduct that violates our community standards, in any language. Flagged content is reviewed by a human administrator. We believe a safe bar is a better bar.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not show ads.

Who We Share It With

Other members, according to your privacy settings. Your profile, collection activity, and posts are visible to other members as your settings allow. Messages are visible to their recipients.

Service providers who help us operate, each receiving only what their function requires: Supabase (database, authentication, and storage), Anthropic (AI processing), PhotoRoom (bottle image processing), SerpApi (bottle image search), UPCitemdb (barcode lookups), Expo (push notification delivery), PostHog (product analytics), Sentry (crash and error reporting), and Cloudflare (website hosting).

Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of our members.

Your Choices and Rights

You can edit your profile, adjust privacy settings, and remove content you have posted at any time. You can request deletion of your account and associated personal data from within the app or by emailing [email protected], and we will honor it. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state privacy laws (such as access or deletion rights); email us and we will work with you.

Retention and Security

We keep your information while your account is active. Deleted accounts are removed through our deletion process. Data is encrypted in transit, and database access is restricted by row-level security so members can only reach what they are permitted to see.

The Website

getrickhouse.app serves informational pages and invite links. It does not require an account and does not use advertising trackers. Standard hosting logs apply as described above.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we will update this page and note the new effective date. Continued use of Rickhouse after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
